Wainwright Alberta was once the location of Buffalo National Park in Canada. The Bison Motel was a relic from this time, now gone. The Buffalo herd at Wainwright was moved to Elk Island National Park in the middle of the province and former Buffalo National Park is now CFB Wainwright, a military reserve and training ground for the Canadian Armed Forces. Before any of these events happened the rolling prairie was a huge water meadow on the bed of a former inland sea, where buffalo roamed in their tens of thousands.
